2007 Conestoga Generals Game Reports - Week 8

Tackle 90-2 vs Methacton-2 - 26-0 On a perfect fall football Sunday, The Big Red Machine continued their winning ways defeating a very tough squad from Methacton 26-0 at Wilson Park Field.  The win improved the Generals record to 7-1 heading into their bye week.

The Generals received the ball first, managed only one first down against the Wolverine D, and turned the ball over on downs.  Methacton tried running on the Generals D but Nails Kravitz made a huge stop on 3rd down in the Wolverine backfield.  Methacton completed a pass on 4th down, good for a for a first down,  despite good coverage by cornerback Jake "The Snake" Honesty.  The Generals D tightened though and forced a punt.

The Generals 2nd possession went somewhat like their first only this one ended in a fumble recovered by Methacton.  Adjustments were going to be required if the Big Red O was going to do anything on this day but at this point the D had to go back on the field.    Marty "Mad Dog" McGuckin, playing out of his mind the whole game from his D tackle slot, Lightening Larkin and Taz Reiss each made key stops on this drive, forcing yet another punt.

After working out some of the kinks on the sidelines, the Generals O took the field and went about business.   Matt "The Italian Stallion" Izzo, Dylan "The Dishwasher" Sidoriak and Jaydon "Golden Dome" McGoldrick, opened up the running lanes for the Generals backfield and Nicholas "Brickwall" Kick threw the key block that sprung Sunshine Aitken for the first TD of the game.  The Generals would miss the extra point and take a 6-0 lead.

The Big Red D was now completely energized, in particular Sunshine who leaped high and picked off the Wolverine pass on 2nd down.....the home crowd went ballistic!  With time running out before half the Generals wanted another score.  Taz Reiss connected on a beautiful throw/great catch with Sunshine, and then Lightening Larkin burst up the middle, through a massive hole created by Niko "Drama" Henry, and went deep into Wolverine territory before being tackled.  The Generals would drive to the 2-yd line and as it looked as though they would punch it in just before the horn sounded, but they would fumble the ball away again and go into half with a very slim 6-0 lead.

The Wolverines received the 2nd half kickoff with intentions of driving down the field and scoring the tying TD.  The Big Red D however was swarming as Matt "Hulk" Heron made a key stop and the Wolverines were forced to punt.    Getting the ball for the first time in the 2nd half the Generals O wasted no time as Sunshine Aitken scored his second TD of the game.  Missing yet again another extra point the Generals lead grew to 12-0.

Methacton tried quite unsuccessfully to get something going as Mad Dog McG, Nails K and Noah "The Beast" Offenkrantz held the Wolverines and again forced another punt.  The Generals O started to now pound the ball and chew up the clock, driving down the field and into the 4th qtr.  Liam "The Punisher" Gorman, living up the his nickname and punishing Methacton defenders, aided in Lightening Larkin finding the end zone on a great run.  Taz Reiss  kicked his first extra point of the year and the Generals would take a commanding 20-0 lead.

The Generals D line led by Tommy "The Bull" Fogarty, Thomas "Doomsday" Dougherty, Danny "Sackmeister" Shank and Will "Chili" Chiles would force Methacton to punt again but after a punt of their own the Generals D would take the field one last time.  It would be a short series as Sunshine Aitken notched his second pick of the game returning it to the Methacton 5-yd line.  Snake Honesty, just as he was about to cross the goal line, fumbled the ball but this was certainly the Generals day as Andrew "Look what I found!" Larkin pounced on the loose ball in the end zone for the Generals 4th TD of the game and a final score of 26-0.

A big win for the Bid Red.  Next weekend is a bye for the Big Red Machine as they rest up for the very difficult final two games of the year beginning in week 10 against Northampton 1.
