2007 Conestoga Generals Game Reports - Week 5

Tackle 90-2 vs Horsham 2 - 34-6 The Big Red Machine continued their winning ways with a 34-6 thumping of the Horsham 2 Hawks.  The game was certainly more difficult than the final score might indicate.  After fumbling on their first snap the Generals regrouped and scored a long TD to go up 6-0. Nicholas "Brickwall" Kick made the play possible with a devastating block.

On their first possession Horsham moved the ball down field, a bit too easily for the Generals faithful.  The Generals D tightened up though thanks to some big plays by Tommy "The Bull" Fogarty and Noah "Beast" Offenkrantz.  The Hawks went for it on 4th down and Jake "The Snake" Honesty tipped the Horsham pass away from the receiver.

Getting the ball back, the Generals O, obviously in a generous mood, handed it right back to Horsham with another fumble.  The Big Red D had to take the field, again. Zach "Nails" Kravitz and Will "Chili" Chiles made a great stop on 2nd down and Marty "Mad Dog" McGuckin made a huge tackle on 3rd down.  Going for it on 4th, the Hawks converted their 2nd big pass play of the game.  The D once again had to tighten the clamp and they sure did.  After a huge stop by "Wild Thing" Henry the Hawks turned the ball over on downs.

The Generals O line and Shark Larkin went to work on the Horsham D.  After a few nice gains, Matt "The Italian Stallion" Izzo leveled a crushing block on the helpless defender and Shark Larkin scored raising the Generals lead to 14-0.

The Generals D once again held the Hawks on downs and after getting the ball back the Generals O, with Jaydon "Golden Dome" McGoldrick and Dylan "The Dishwasher" Sidoriak's blocking leading he way, scored again to go up 22-0.  The Hawks, pulling out all stops to get back in the game, threw an ill advised pass that Shark Larkin was all over, picking it off and returning it for a score.  Big Red would go into half with big lead, 28-0.

In the 2nd half the Generals D, led by Nick "The Falcon" Falcone, Tom "Doomsday" Dougherty, Matt "Hulk" Heron and Danny "Sackmeister" Shank, let loose on the Hawk O not letting them generate much O at all.  Jake "The Snake" Honesty, running behind Liam "The Enforcer" Gorman, scored the Generals final TD late in the 4th.  The Hawks were able to get on the scoreboard at the end of the game making the final score 34-6.

The Big Red Machine is home again next weekend to face a very dangerous Marsh Creek 3 team.

Flag Team 2 vs Quakertown Team 2 - 28-37 The Generals played well but could not seem to grasp the flags of the elusive Quakertown players.

All the Generals played well.  The defense was led by the Defensive Tackles Domenic Sancherico and Brian Christner.  They, along with Middle Linebacker, Miles Scott and Safety, Nia Scott provided a stout defense up the middle.  Defensive Ends Eric Satell, Kyle Nicholson and Michael Erickson along with Outside Linebackers, Ryan Maher and Mark Montague kept the swift Panthers from getting outside.

On offense, Mark Montague completed a halfback option pass to Kyle Nicholson for an exciting score.  Mark also ran for touchdowns.  Kyle Nicholson had an exceptional game.  He was called upon to help fortify the offensive line on several occasions and blocked very well.  He also had several excellent runs for long yardage.  Eric Satell passed for a touchdown and two extra points as well as ran for a touchdown.  Ryan Maher, splitting time at Center and running back with Kyle Nicholson, had several excellent catches and runs.  He scored a two point conversion on an excellent catch.

Enabling the swift General backfield to perform so well was our tough offensive line.  Anchoring the offensive line were our tackles Buck Walsh and Michael Erickson.  Erickson was against an especially tough defensive end and played him so well that he earned a game ball.  Our guards, Remi Beltran and Shane Scott also had excellent games.  Shane did a great job blocking and earned a game ball for his efforts.  Our centers, Ryan Maher and Kyle Nicholson, did an exceptional job both blocking and catching the ball.

The Generals were inspired by the presence of the injured Billy Carlini who came to the game to cheer on his teammates.  Watch out as Billy rejoins his teammates on the field next week against Abington.
